*The Project:

Over the course of several years, I had the opportunity to work with Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB) on a wide range of brand and broadcast initiatives—projects I contributed to during my time at Incubate Design. From on-air branding to TV commercials and animated interstitials, the work reflected a long-term creative partnership built on collaboration, consistency, and a shared commitment to meaningful storytelling.

On-Air ID

Our collaboration began with a full redesign of OPB’s on-air identity system. We developed a contemporary visual toolkit that conceptually tied together the diverse people, places, and ideas behind OPB’s programming. The work included animated templates, graphic elements, and sound mark coordination—bringing cohesion to their presence across broadcast.

Interstitials & Logo Animation

To support OPB’s evolving on-air identity, I helped concept and animate a series of 7-second interstitials promoting new programming and initiatives. Each piece was short in duration but designed for clarity, cohesion, and brand alignment—delivering quick, impactful messages within the OPB broadcast system.

In addition, I also animated the logo for OPB Original Series—a simple, expressive motion treatment that tied the programming brand into the broader visual system we had developed.

Whether it was a short-form interstitial or a fully illustrated TV spot with voiceover, the process always began with storyboarding. Starting from a script, I worked closely with creative directors to shape the tone, structure, and pacing through visual sketches. From there, I developed styleframes to define the look and feel, then moved into animation. Throughout, collaboration was key—sharing animation responsibilities across the team to meet tight timelines while maintaining a cohesive visual voice.

TV Spots

I designed and animated a series of TV spots to support OPB’s fundraising and outreach campaigns. These included a lighthearted animated commercial encouraging legacy giving, an illustrated ad introducing OPB’s daily email newsletter, First Look, and a spot promoting the benefits of monthly Sustaining Circle memberships. Each campaign extended the core visual identity we developed for OPB’s on-air system while introducing new creative elements to match the tone and audience of each message.

Broadcast Promotions

To promote specific programming and initiatives like Morning Edition, I designed and edited TV commercials that integrated regional references and emphasized the accessibility of OPB’s radio offerings. These campaigns aimed to meet audiences where they were—literally, in their daily routines—and evolved across multiple broadcast seasons.
