*The Project:

Makey Makey’s DIY Party Pack turns everyday objects into inventive game controllers—encouraging collaboration, curiosity, and just the right amount of chaos. To help launch the product, we were asked to design the packaging and a 36-page instruction booklet that would guide players through four original games and make the kit feel as fun and intuitive as it is inventive.

*The APPROACH:

I led the design for both the packaging and the instruction booklet, shaping a visual system that felt energetic, accessible, and true to Makey Makey’s DIY ethos. The packaging was designed to pop off the shelf and communicate creativity at a glance. Inside, we gave the booklet a zine-inspired feel—playful, colorful, and approachable for kids and families alike. I handled the layout and graphic design, and collaborated closely with the team on art direction and photography to make sure the visuals supported clear, friendly guidance every step of the way.

*The RESULT:

The final product balances structure and spontaneity—offering just enough direction to get the games going, while leaving plenty of room for imaginative play. With bright packaging, thoughtful instructions, and photos that show the fun in action, the DIY Party Pack brings Makey Makey’s playful spirit into classrooms, living rooms, and anywhere else invention happens.
